Ground-Up House Rebuild in NJ

Project Overview

NJ Fix and Flip. Full rebuild by Zen.
Westview Drive, Caldwell, NJ.

These first sets of photos show the initial phase of this home renovation after the intense damage done to the house by a single oak tree. In the early phase of the project, we did all design, planning, permitting, and cleaning and then the new construction: roof framing, wall framing, roofing, etc.

Exterior Renovations - Spring 2022

Substantial mold remediation had to be performed for the interior of the home. More specifically, all roofing parts, including shingles, had to be torn off. The sheetrock and insulation that suffered water damage had to be removed from ceilings and walls on the basement level and the first floor to prepare for the installation of new insulation.

After removing debris, we reframed the roof and the ceiling joists and designed a new gable over the front door and entrance. We also installed new felt paper or blue plastic layer, ice shield, and drip edge where necessary; soffit, siding, and fascia were added.

Interior Updates - Summer 2022

New sheetrock walls painted olive green, new hickory laminate flooring. In the kitchen, we designed a new kitchen with wood-style tile flooring. We installed a new mailbox and rebuilt the concrete staircase with cement blocks, concrete, and cement layers.

Final Stages

In the final stages, we finished the kitchen, re-built the bathroom in the basement, refinished the basement staircase, rebuilt walls and ceiling in the basement, and used stucco to parge walls in the basement.

We made custom walnut cabinet pulls in our wood-shop for the new kitchen cabinets. We also designed and created a solid walnut mantle piece with walnut trim. Topping the entire project off literally, we made a new chimney and capped it off with a pretty bluestone block for a custom top trim.
